YWIM AGM: Save the date: Pizza, Music and AGM
Thursday, November 19, 2026 Normandy Living – Juniper Room
5:00-5:30 – pizza
5:30-6:30 – AGM
6:30-8:00 – participate in Thursday Normandy Jam
8:00-8:30 – any unfinished AGM business
Agenda, minutes from last AGM, financial statements and president’s report will be circulated in advance of meeting.
As a side note: many of the present board members are willing to stand again so, don’t worry about getting co-opted!! We would love to welcome some new board members however, so either identify yourself, or come on the day with an expression of interest. We meet for 1.5 hours a month and hope for a maximum of 2 hours of work per month outside of this. That mostly covers direct time commitment. Occasionally there is a Saturday or Sunday scheduled to focus on visioning and strategy for the year. This happens about twice a year.
Call Out for interest - Performance Opportunity!
YWIM is looking to our member musicians for three upcoming house concerts in the Whitehorse area:
November 27
December 10 and
January 23
(Doors 6:30; Performances: 7:00)
There will be a maximum of 4 performers per concert, each doing a 20 minute set. Performers will be paid. Performers may include another person(s) in their set. All performers need to have a paid up membership in YWIM. (Go to: https://ywim.ca/tickets-memberships to update yours now.)
Performers will be selected into a grouping that creates a variety of sound and experience that is appropriate for a house concert.
Please send your name to Annie Avery, (anniepiani@gmail.com), and include a two sentence description of yourself and performance, and your choice of date. Please send your response by November 12.

Jamfest
We had another wonderful Jamfest weekend at Braeburn lake summer camp, with 30 participants (a Jamfest record!). Many joyful moments of jamming around the fire, band scrambles, and connecting with our YWIM community. Thanks to all who attended and supported, to our instructor team Amelia Rose Slobogean, Barbara Chamberlin, Hannah Mazurek, and Joyce Grennan, to Annie Avery for artistic directing, and to Mary Tiessen and Hannah Roth for coordinating.
Cookshacks
Christina Mae and Amelia made their usual magic and the Cookshacks were full of love and fun and wonderful music. We are sad to bid them adieu and thank them for all their efforts over these last few years. The board now has the task of envisioning a new way to ensure the Cookshacks continue. It is certainly a priority for us AND none of the board has the capacity to become the lead. The new board will be hard at work addressing this.
Update on CRA
After so many complications, difficulties and roadblocks, the current board is now listed with CRA as registered on the YWIM CRA account. We hope any future board never has to undergo the difficulty of gaining access to the account!! We now have a CRA cheat sheet!
New Horizons 2027/2028
Once we settled our CRA debacle, New Horizons accepted our funding application as complete. YWIM will be continuing its focus of strengthening community through musical projects that benefit both the community and our members. We will find out if we are successful in January.
We hope to see you at some of the events we have planned this Fall!!
